Happy Lunar New Year from TSLR

Happy Lunar New Year from The Shanghai Literary Review!

What’s coming up for our team in the year of the pig?

TSLR has been working hard over the past few months to bring you something new and exciting - We’re thrilled to finally announce that our first comic book, Shanghai Waves, will be debuting at the end of February.

TSLR has teamed up with local Shanghai illustration collective Shaving in the Dark to produce stories for comics related to the theme of Shanghai. The comics have been written by TSLR staff and brought to life by our good friends at Shaving. We’re stoked to also be partnering again with Unravel Shanghai on February 28 to launch our hometown-themed book at their first show of the new year. Tickets will be available for the event (as well as pre-orders of books) starting February 15. Stay tuned for details!

For now, here’s a sneak peak at some illustrations from the book:

We’ll be updating here and in the events section of our website with more details about the event and the book as they are released.

In other news, the TSLR team is currently busy reading submissions for Issue Five, and accepted submissions will be notified no later than the end of March. Please understand that due to the number of submissions we receive, we may not be able to reply to all submissions or provide feedback on pieces. Thank you, and we look forward to bringing you new and interesting work in this year of the golden pig!
