The Wolf Column, one of many armed groups formed to resist the military in Myanmar after the February 2021 coup, cleared a military camp in Demoso township, Karenni State after it was seized by resistance forces on December 19, 2023. A coalition of resistance forces in Karenni State began an operation on November 11 aimed at taking over the state capital and other areas.

Karenni resistance forces began an operation to take over the town on November 11. Many local civilians were trapped during the fighting, and hundreds were rescued by the volunteer team.


Myo Satt Hla Thaw is a freelance photojournalist who has been based in conflict-affected areas of Karenni State, Myanmar since March 2021. Prior to that, he worked as a photojournalist in Yangon for a local media outlet.
